You can delete your Stream account — and the data that belongs to it — at any time. Stream is operated by FOP Hnatiuk Yaroslav ("we", "us"), an individual entrepreneur registered in Ukraine. This page explains how to delete your account, what is removed, and the few records we are required to keep.
1. Delete it in the app
This is the fastest way, and it takes effect immediately.
- Android. Open Stream → Settings in the bottom navigation → scroll to Delete account → tap Delete account… → confirm.
- Web. Sign in at stream-reader.com → Settings → Account → Delete account.
Your account is deleted right away: every session is revoked on every device, and you are signed out everywhere. There is no waiting period and no "undo" — if you want to keep a copy of anything, export it first.
2. If you can no longer sign in
If you deleted the app, lost access to the mailbox, or signed up with a Google account you can no longer use, email privacy@stream-reader.com with the subject Account deletion request.
Send it from the address registered on the account if possible. If you cannot, write from any address and include what you can — the account's email, the Google account you used, and roughly when you signed up. We may ask you to confirm ownership before deleting, so that nobody can delete someone else's account. We reply and complete the request within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
3. What we delete
Deleting your account removes all of the following from our systems:
- Account and profile — email address, display name, avatar URL, password hash, Google account identifier, email verification status.
- Sessions — every refresh token and every outstanding password-reset or email-verification token.
- Your library — the feeds and sources you subscribed to, what you read, hid or saved, your tags, and the notifications you received.
- Generated artifacts — records of the translations and PDF exports you requested.
- Preferences — interface and translation languages.
- Subscription record — our own row linking you to a plan (the payment provider's records are a separate matter — see below).
4. What we keep, and for how long
A small number of records outlive the account. We keep them because security, accounting or tax law requires it, and nothing else:
- Security audit records — 12 months. Sign-ins, failed sign-in attempts, password resets, account deletions and administrative actions are written to an audit trail. Deleting your account removes the link between those records and your account, but an individual record can still contain the email address and IP address that were captured at the moment of the event (for example, a failed sign-in attempt). We use them only to investigate abuse and security incidents, and they are deleted after 12 months.
- Purchase and invoice records — held by the merchant of record. Payments are processed by Google Play (in-app purchases) and Paddle (web purchases), which act as merchant of record and keep invoices, receipts and tax records under their own retention policies and applicable law. We cannot delete those records on your behalf; we no longer hold a copy that identifies you.
- Encrypted backups — up to 30 days. A deleted account may still exist inside encrypted backups until they rotate. Those copies are never used for anything but disaster recovery, and they are overwritten within 30 days.
5. Your subscription
Deleting your account is not the same as cancelling a paid plan. We cancel your Google Play subscription as part of the deletion. If Google Play could not be reached at that moment, the subscription may keep renewing — check your Play subscriptions and cancel it manually. For a web (Paddle) subscription, cancel it first at stream-reader.com/settings/plan.
Deleting an account does not refund a period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.
6. Delete some data, keep the account
Not everything requires deleting the whole account. In the app you can remove individual feeds, tags, saved articles and notifications yourself, at any time.
If you want us to remove something that the app does not expose — for example your reading history, while keeping the account and the subscription — email privacy@stream-reader.com and say what should go. We reply and complete the request within 30 days.
